Why the switch to a digital document?
The digital document is the answer to key challenges in modern retail. It offers much more than just saving paper:
Sustainability & cost savings
Save tons of thermal paper, reduce your CO₂ footprint and operating costs (printing, disposal) - good for the environment and budget.
Legal certainty & efficiency
Fulfill the document issuance requirement digitally, legally and audit-proof. Documents are archived centrally and can be retrieved at any time.
Data as a fuel for your marketing
Use detailed transaction data (SKU level) for deeper insights and optimize marketing & loyalty strategies.
Benefits for you as a retailer
Reduce costs significantly
Significantly reduce spending on paper, printing, and manual archiving (savings of 30-60% possible)
Optimize processes
Speed up checkout processes and simplify returns and warranty processing with digital receipts that are always available.
Develop marketing potential
Transform the receipt into a direct marketing channel at the POS. Place targeted offers, links (shop, app, social media) or loyalty campaigns via integrable content areas.
Act in a future-oriented manner
Position yourself as an innovative and sustainable company while meeting all legal requirements.
Benefits for your customers
Maximum comfort
Receive receipts flexibly via QR code, merchant/partner app, email, wallet (Google/Apple) or automatically when paying by card (card-linked). Stop the clutter of notes!
Practical & safe
Digital documents don't get lost or fade. Ideal for exchange, warranty, expense report, or tax. Easy administration and document finder function.
Sustainable & contemporary
Customers can actively avoid waste and benefit from a modern, digital service.
The digital document works so easily
1. Conclusion of purchase & offer of receipts
As usual, complete the purchase at the checkout. Instead of a printout, the customer is primarily offered the digital option — usually via a QR code on the customer display or terminal. (The ad alone already meets the obligation to issue documents).
2. Digital reception — many ways
The customer chooses their preferred path:
QR code scan
The QR code is scanned with the smartphone camera. A web page opens on which the document is displayed.
Storage options
The customer can save the document directly as a PDF, send it to themselves by email or store it in their preferred wallet (Apple/Google).
Integrate with partner apps
The document can be transferred directly to connected apps (e.g. merchant, banking or loyalty apps).
Card-Linked Receipt
After one-time approval, the receipt can be automatically sent via email/SMS or to linked apps as soon as payment is made with the registered bank/credit card - no more scanning required!
3. Optional printing
If a customer explicitly wants a paper receipt, it can still be created at the push of a button.
4. Intelligent data processing
In the background, all relevant transaction data (articles, prices, quantity, time stamp, VAT, etc.) is recorded securely and in a structured manner. This data is available to you for analyses, marketing and optimised processes (e.g. simplified returns processing).
5. Document finder
Did a customer forget to receive the receipt? On our document finder website, the receipt can be retrieved retrospectively with just a few details, which reduces support costs.

Profitability & ROI
The digital document is more than just compliance - it is a driver for efficiency and growth.
cost savings
By eliminating paper printing, you can achieve significant savings - some customers report up to 30% lower operating costs.
Time gain
Simplified return processes and automated data flows save your team valuable time.
New sales potential
Use the digital receipt as an additional marketing channel - from personalized offers to cross-selling and upselling potential.
transparency
Benefit from accurate, instantly available data that helps you measure the success of your marketing efforts.
Proven in practice - digital documents in use
Omnichannel connection
Companies like GLOBUS use the digital document to seamlessly direct customers to their “my GLOBUS” app after shopping in the market, to connect customer cards and thus strengthen the digital customer journey (over 30,000 registrations in the first week).
Efficiency & sustainability
Large gas station chains such as HEM, Westfalen AG, Q1, AVIA, Hoyer or team energie are massively reducing paper waste and costs, meeting legal requirements (e.g. at vending machine gas stations) and using the digital receipt as a new marketing touchpoint for offers.
Customer Loyalty & Marketing
SONNENTOR or Vinzenzmurr use digital documents to draw attention to social media, newsletters or special promotions via integrated content areas and to intensify customer loyalty. Vinzenzmurr also saves over 100 km of paper per year thanks to digital dealer receipts.
Simplified processes
Retailers such as AWG, MATT optik • akustik or YOUNiQUE appreciate the digital receipt because it simplifies warranty processing and returns. Customers can forward receipts directly to health insurance companies via email or find them immediately when needed.
Seamless experience
POCO offers customers the digital receipt via QR code or automatically via e-mail for app users with a customer card, which improves the shopping experience and simplifies administration.
Loyalty integration
Through partnerships, digital receipts can be integrated directly into leading loyalty programs, which makes participation easier and allows data to be used for personalized rewards.
After the purchase, a QR code is displayed. Customers scan it with their smartphone camera (no app required!) and can save the document as a PDF, send it by email, store it in wallets (Apple/Google) or receive it in integrated partner apps. Automatic receipt via customer card or linked bank card (card-linked) is also optional.
The digital document is created regardless of the payment method (cash, girocard, credit card, mobile payment, fuel card, etc.).
Yes, anybill has integrations with over 60 common cash register systems from various industries (retail, retail, gas stations, catering, etc.). In most cases, no additional hardware is required; a customer display or the terminal display is sufficient.
Very safe. All data is transmitted in encrypted form and stored in certified data centers (Microsoft Azure in Europe) in accordance with the highest security standards (GDPR-compliant). The solution meets all legal requirements for audit security.
Yes, absolutely. The digital document contains all legally required information and serves as full proof of exchange, warranty or accounting. Because it doesn't fade or get lost, it actually makes these processes easier.
