Overview
The Bücherwurm bookstore, with 4 locations in Regensburg and the surrounding area, successfully integrated anybill into its POS systems shortly after the pause caused by the Corona pandemic. This year, sustainability was a key theme for Bücherwurm. anybill helped them move closer to this goal.
Challenge
While paper is naturally abundant in bookstores in the form of books, at the checkout counter it's often unnecessary. Thermal paper receipts, in particular, generate poorly recyclable waste. However, the mandatory receipt issuance law introduced in Germany in 2020 requires these receipts to be issued for every transaction, even if customers don't want them and they end up directly in the trash.
Solution
With anybill's digital receipt, Bücherwurm can save paper at the checkout. anybill ensures that the legal obligation to issue receipts is met simply by displaying a QR code on the customer display. Customers can easily scan the QR code at the POS terminal with their smartphone camera to receive the digital receipt directly as a PDF, via email, or in an app within the anybill partner network.
