Munich, November 4, 2025. The Munich based retail tech startup anybill is expanding its digital receipt platform with Purchase Intelligence, an AI powered SaaS solution that enables data driven decision making in brick and mortar retail. The new product analyzes sales data based on digital receipts, identifies patterns and automatically provides retailers with valuable insights and relevant recommendations for action, ranging from price and assortment optimization to campaign planning and targeted customer engagement to strengthen loyalty. Analyses can also be accessed via an integrated chat function using natural language. This brings real time, data driven intelligence directly to the point of sale.

“Despite growing online volumes, the majority of purchases in Germany still take place in physical stores,” says Lea Frank, CEO and co founder of anybill. “However, unlike in ecommerce, many retailers lack direct access to customer and basket data and the ability to analyze it. This is exactly where Purchase Intelligence comes in. We make data analysis and AI in physical retail as accessible and intuitive as in ecommerce, creating real value for day to day store operations.”

How AI turns receipt data into insights

Purchase Intelligence uses modern machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies to identify patterns and trends from digital transaction data. The platform provides actionable recommendations, for example when the performance of specific products changes unexpectedly. In these situations it automatically suggests retailer specific measures such as marketing actions, bundle offers or adjustments to shelf placement.

By using the digital receipt as a direct communication channel to customers, marketing actions can be automatically delivered to the right audience and drive loyalty through relevant and personalized offers. In the background, agentic AI continuously cleans and prepares the underlying data for analysis, which improves data quality over time.

“We have always had purchase data. Thanks to Purchase Intelligence, we can now see for the first time where buying behavior is shifting and how product sales are developing. The tool gives us concrete actions we can implement immediately. This leads to clear decisions and saves a lot of time,” says Jörg Tiedemann, Head of Category Management at HOYER, one of the first users of the new anybill platform.

The “Chat with your Data” feature also offers an intuitive way to interact with data using natural language. Retailers can ask spontaneous questions and receive immediate insights, understandable evaluations and recommendations without having to create manual reports. This makes data usable in real time across the entire company and turns data driven analysis into an everyday part of store operations.

From dashboards to interaction: new ways at the point of sale

The cloud based Purchase Intelligence platform, hosted in Germany, can be integrated into existing checkout systems or CRM environments without technical complexity. Retailers gain insights into revenue patterns, customer behavior and shopping baskets in a fully GDPR compliant manner.

As an extension of the anybill receipt platform, Purchase Intelligence connects digital receipt data with retail media, loyalty and CRM systems. This creates new revenue potential and additional touchpoints with customers directly at the point of sale. It further strengthens anybill’s role as a technology partner for the digital transformation of brick and mortar retail.
